================================================ AddWeb 3 Recent Release History ================================================ ---------------------------------------------------- June 24, 2000 - Version 3.34 (EXE Update) ----------------------------------------------------- - Created new engine category called Server Side Submissions for multi-post submission sites. Also added new sites for this puropse, allowing a total server-side submission count of over 300,000 sites. - Added a warning message for Link Directories and Server Side sites. When you select one of these, you are warned about the potential of spam mail... this for those out there that don;t read the docs ;-) - Fixed minor problems in PageBuilder that caused some pages to lose scripting due to CR/LF issues. - Fixed a problem that sometimes caused default url in autoreporting not to save. - Fixed some problems in ranking that would cause it to freeze or hang on soem machines. - Fixed memory leak in report generation. Among other things, this caused large email reports to fail. ---------------------------------------------------- June 8, 2000 - Version 3.33 (EXE Update) ----------------------------------------------------- - Fixed ranking report misreporting problem - Found and addressed load time issue that affected some users with AMD processors. ---------------------------------------------------- June 5, 2000 - Version 3.32 (EXE Update) ----------------------------------------------------- - Matrox Video Card drivers for Win98 have a display bug that cause 1 pixel-high polygons not to display. This caused the AddWeb digits to look like garbage if you have a Matrox card with Win98. - Fixed Win2K freeze problems. This was a DNS lookup issue that needed to be slowed down for Windows 2000 and some Windows 98 machines. - Fixed problem that caused multiple profile submissions to hang on some systems. - Fixed calculation bug that would cause negative numbers to display in some situations. ---------------------------------------------------- June 2, 2000 - Version 3.31 (FULL Update) ---------------------------------------------------- - Added notification popups for server side posting. * Many users have noted that the large numbers of engines would complete suddenly, thinking that there was a problem. In fact, this is part of our server-side posting for link warehouses, designed to save resources and bandwidth. In order to clear the confusion, we have added a popup when server-side posts occur that explains the situation. - Fixed engine reporting mismatch in report db for Standard and demo versions ---------------------------------------------------- June 1, 2000 - Version 3.30 (FULL Update) ---------------------------------------------------- - Added support for Snap membership accounts. - Added Page count to ranking - Added enhanced database support for server side submissions. - Overhauled for lower resource use/better load time. - Added enhanced cookie support for complex major engines. - Addressed visual issues for Windows 2K ---------------------------------------------------- March 16, 2000 - Version 3.24 (EXE only Update) ---------------------------------------------------- - Fixed problem that caused false positive results for users submitting to link directories. This was a result of code used to process many of the FFA sites that reside on shared servers. In order to save bandwidth, AddWeb posts to these sites ONCE, while the server posts to the remainder of the shared sites. ** Special note on this performance: We have added an 'SS:' indicator to the begining of the listings of these sites. When AddWeb encounters the first site on a shared server, it stores the result of the submission. When it encounters another FFA site that shares the same server, AddWeb puts the 'SS:' identifier next to the name and copies the same result. This, however, will have the side-effect that if you lose connection *AFTER* AddWeb has submitted a successful post to one of these, it will continue to label the remaining sites from the previously successful submission, giving the illusion that AddWeb is still submitting to them. The 'SS:' indicator is there to make the process a bit clearer. This behavior is due to the submission process AddWeb goes through, considering that it was not originally designed to process through shared servers. We are working on a 3.30 release which will have the submission process rewritten in such a way that it processes all shared server submissions together, therefore this side effect will no longer happen. - Fixed a problem that caused custom category freezing for some people using Windows 2000. This also fixes a few problems that have occurred with Windows 95,98 and NT.
